Keep the gear ready for the next walk.

Remove accessories and electronic trackers before cleaning, following the device maker’s instructions. Brush away loose dirt, then follow the care directions for the exact collar, leash, harness or patch. A mild wash may suit some textiles, but hardware finishes, embroidery and adhesives can have different requirements. Do not assume every item can be machine washed or tumble dried.

For compatible coated-webbing leashes, wipe the strap clean and pay attention to the connector, rivets and folded sections. Let gear dry fully before storage. Avoid solvents, bleach, excessive heat or abrasive tools unless the manufacturer specifically permits them.

Before each use, check stitching, strap wear, buckle closure and leash attachment hardware. Stop using damaged gear. Check fit again after cleaning and after any change in your dog’s growth or coat.
